I’m in two strong publications this month: Bearings and GA’s edition of Southern Living. If you’re a Georgian, you can pick up Southern Living at news stands, bookstores, and so on. To check out the interview I did for Bearings click here. It’s a “Southern Lifestyle Guide for Men”. So get guided and check these dudes out.
Pre-Orders for the new EP is only live for a couple more weeks. Make sure to pre-order so that you get your copy before it’s available on Itunes come 6.22.
GATHERED ‘ROUND THE GREASEFIRE RELEASES 6.22.2010

In the next couple of weeks (June 22nd), I’m going to put out a new collection of songs entitled “Gathered ‘Round the Greasefire EP.” I would be glad to have you take a listen and pre-order it at www.micahdalton.com. Now Some fast facts:
1. My friend, Paul Reeves, (who can effectively dunk a basketball) turned knobs and added his production and mixing expertise to it in Athens, GA.
2. Long time collaborator, James Gregory, played bass, piano, tambourine, and, I’m pretty sure, shaker on it. He references Bach sonatas when making set lists, dances hard to a proper break, and has notable shaker technique. He continues to amaze me.
3. John Neff from the Drive-by Truckers played pedal steel on it. If you don’t know what that is, it looks like a time machine from the netherworld and sounds like Jesus’ happy tears. At least it does when John plays it.
4. Kim Taylor lent her pipes to the project: http://www.kim-taylor.net/. She sings so well, but she really wants to be a scientist. Which, obviously, makes you wonder how long it will take for her to claim her due as the missing member of the Justice League. I’m very thankful that she let me use her skills on this project.
5. As for me, I’m mostly glad I finally got to rip a fake sitar solo on the first track. If I can convince Paul, I’ll put out a disc of “fake sitar solo outtakes” as a B Side project. Fingers crossed.
6. I’m hand-making, stamping, and numbering these EPs DIY style. So, there will only be 500 available FOREVER. FOREVER. FOREVER. But, it will be available digitally on itunes on June 22. Brian Manley of funwithrobots.com did the art direction. At the top, I’ve posted some pictures of how I skipped the packaging middle man on these to ensure that they’re made real special just for you.
Thanks to all reading for your continued support and friendship.
Much love-
Micah
AMERICAN AIRLINES STORYTELLER

Recently I was selected by American Airlines, along with a handful of other creative people (filmmaker, photographer, editor, writer, and storyteller,) to talk about what makes a good story. I told them to just put me down for “don’t make it boring and use pyrotechnics if at hand”, but they were like “no way, man”…..so I did this instead. Bite into this:

My friend Mike Bond put together a small documentary on me for Comcast’s Bands on Demand here in Atlanta. Bands on Demand showcases different local talent every month through recorded video medium. Mike followed me around town in between a handful of dates in the South, capturing a show, rehearsal, and a song. Thanks for doing the work, Mike.

RECORDING NEW EP

So, I’ve been holed up in Athens for the past week tracking for a new 5 song piece to be titled later. It’s been strange to record in a new city but also nice. Nice to drift away from Nashville. Nice to drift away from Atlanta. I’m working mainly at DOMUS Studios in Athens with one Paul Reeves, but an assorted cast will be lending skills to help out. No drums or anything either. Anyway, check back over the next couple of months for updates and what not. If you’re wondering what it will sound like, here’s a photo of the chicken scratch ‘vision’ notes I gave to Paul in our pre production sessions. That’s about as close as I can get right now as these ‘pre pro ideas’ have a tendency to change monumentally by the end of the recording. Thanks for keeping up-Md

‘PAWNSHOP’ AT CRIMINAL RECORDS/ STORE IS UP
Posted on January 7th, 2010 under

If you don’t know, I’m from Atlanta, and we have one of the most slammin’ record stores, arguably, in the nation in Little 5 Points: Criminal Records , and they are now carrying my latest record, ‘Pawn Shop’. It’s the only retailer that carries it. So go pick it up if your local and don’t have it.
Also, the store is up. Right now, I only have 2 LPs and 1 LP available, but more will come. A fancier store with more garb and goodies to come. You have my word. Stay warm-
